Building on more than 25 years experience in Rail, Engineering and Technology, RailETC was founded in late 2021 as a freelance engineering consultancy service by Director and Principal Consultant David Shipman; Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the IET, and Associate of the CIRO.
Having worked for Network Rail for 15 years, and in other industry roles for a decade prior to that, David is no stranger to new technologies and innovations in both products and processes. This has included extensive experience around modern (and sometimes not so modern) signalling technologies across conventional and ETCS signalling and control systems; innovative developments in survey, design tools, automation and data integration; and systems engineering and assurance.
It’s exciting to bring RailETC into being at such an incredible time for rail and other engineering sectors. I am passionate about helping bring together the right solutions at the right time, to continue improving safety, efficiency, effectiveness and integration of rail and the wider transport system, and look forward to the new opportunities I have to bring years of experience to bear on the challenges of the wider industry.
